If your loved one passes away while under the care of a facility — such as a nursing home or a hospital — staff from the facility will contact you and notify appropriate authorities (EX: Medical Examiner, New England Donor Services and Funeral Home).
~ If Hospice Services are involved, and your loved one passes without medical personnel, CALL HOSPICE immediately, DO NOT CALL 911. Hospice will come to your home, pronounce the death, then contact the Funeral Home
~ If the death occurred unexpectedly, you must call emergency medical personnel (911), they will notify proper authorities (Medical Examiner and Funeral Home). We will obtain his/her physician or Medical Examiner information, as the cause of death must be identified and indicated in legal documents.
~ In the event that no one was present at the time of death, you will need to contact the police before moving the deceased to another location.
