William Dresner Obituary

OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) William W. Dresner Jr., 90, resident of Middleboro for 57 years, died on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Fischer) Dresner; they had been married for 62 years. He was born in New Bedford; son of the late William W. Sr. and Sarah (Hushon) Dresner. He was a 1943 graduate of New Bedford High School. He played clarinet in bands and drums in YD drum corps. He served in the United States Army Air Force, during WWII. He was a correction officer at Massachusetts Correctional Institute, Bridgewater, for 38 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1987. He was a member of the Air Force Association, American Legion Post #462. He was a H.A.M. radio operator, and had been an avid traveler. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Joan R. and James Sullivan of South Easton, Helen J. Dresner of West Roxbury and Joseph Dorkhom of Malden; a brother in law, Charles Senesac of West Yarmouth; two nieces, a nephew, and a late nephew. He was the brother of the late Thomas and his wife Mary Dresner, and Mary Senesac. Visiting hours will be held at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro, on Tuesday, August 19th from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, at 10 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St Middleboro, at 11 am. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
