Virginia Murdoch Obituary

OBITUARY: Virginia C. (Clark) Murdoch, aged 84, of Middleboro, died on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Brockton Hospital. She was the wife of Bruce 0. Murdoch for 58 years. Born in Lynn, Virginia was daughter of the late Arthur and Alfreda (Cowan) Clark. She was a Registered Nurse with the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association and a long time home-maker. Virginia was raised in Brockton and the sister of Robert (d), Joseph (d), Frederick, Henry and Janice (d) Clark. She loved and cared for all her siblings as well as their children who fondly call her Aunt Ginny. She had numerous nieces and nephews who looked to her as a mother figure, whenever they needed a stand-in. Virginia exemplified what "giving of yourself" meant when it came to the unconditional love that she showered upon her own nine children. Remarkably, Virginia had all of her children at Brockton Hospital with the exact same OB/GYN each time. In order of birth, these 9 children are Lynne, Jason (deceased), Heather, Kimberly, Andrew, Ann, William, Bruce and Ereta. Virginia took care of many of her 14 grandchildren during their first year of life to help out the parents. Daughter and Son-in-laws became her own children too and called her mom. There was always a special present under the Christmas tree for them! Her grandchildren include: Abigail, Amanda, Megan, William, Brendan, Christopher, Sarah, Carolyn, Anthony, Patrick, Gina, Cameron, Shelbi and Owen. Virginia had 10 great grandchildren: Samantha, Jackson, Noah, Layla, Jason, Craig, Ava, Aria and Carter. It seems an understatement to say that, right up until her unexpected death, the family home was always filled with chaos, love and children! Ginny loved anything to do with nursing and cooking. Good skills with a large family. She enjoyed gardening and the spring flower catalogs were always stacked in a special place in anticipation of the new growing season. Dancing, going to the beach and making everyone laugh at family events brought her joy. Her hobbies included sewing and painting. A devote Catholic, Ginny was a long time communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro. She watched the daily mass on television and General Hospital to balance out her day. Virginia will be missed most by her loving husband, Bruce. His ability to let her take charge kept the family together through many rough and joyous events alike over the years. She will be missed by all who knew her. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 21st from 4-7 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 22nd at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St. Middleboro, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro. All are welcome to attend a reception at the Middleboro Elks Lodge on the corner of Oak and High Street, Middleboro.
