Virginia Day (Belrose) MacDonald, age 84, of Quincy, formerly of Middleborough, died on Friday, June 19, 2026, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Middleborough; she was born, grew up and attended public schools there. Virginia began working as a laborer attaching the soles to penny loafer shoes, first at the Plymouth Shoe Company in Middleborough and then at the Bridgewater Shoe Company in Bridgewater. She went on to work at Rockland Laundry and in the laundry department for the Ramada Inn in Rockland, which later became the Comfort Inn, where she was recognized for her outstanding service. In later years, she found happiness working as a greeter at the local Walmart store and retired in 2004.
In retirement, Virginia kept busy knitting and crocheting; she made many maternity nursery blankets and bonnets for newborns and donated them to the two local hospitals in Brockton. She was very crafty, making many cardigan sweaters for folks, and doing diamond art. Virginia kept her mind sharp by doing word search puzzles and reading. Her favourite food was steamed clams. She was a simple lady who led a simple life and loved spending time with her family.
Virginia was the daughter of the late Priscilla Mae (Clark) Belrose & the late Walter Belrose, and step-daughter of the late Gisele; beloved wife of the late Daniel MacDonald; loving mother of Bonnie MacDonald of Quincy and the late Kathleen MacDonald; cherished grandmother of Michelle MacDonald & her companion Dyllon Townsend of Taunton; and great-grandmother of Sharlet Townsend.
There will be NO visiting hours.
All are invited to the Graveside Services at the Rock Cemetery, Hope Rest Section, Highland Avenue, Middleborough, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
