Virginia (Ginny) A. Cahoon, 86 years old, of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the wife of the late Theodore B. Cahoon, Jr., for 40 wonderful years.
Ginny was born on September 24, 1934, in Middleborough, MA, the daughter of the late Delpha and C. Donald Turner. She grew up in Lakeville, MA and graduated from Middleborough High School in 1952, and Bridgewater Teacher's College in 1957.
She is survived by her three sons; Darryl G. Cahoon and his wife Nancy, Theodore B. Cahoon III and his wife Deirdre, and Deane A. Cahoon and his wife Linda. She leaves behind her three grandchildren; Brendan Cahoon, Patrice (Cahoon) Delaney and Justin Cahoon, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Natalie Atkins and brother, Richard Turner.
Ginny taught at several elementary schools in the Middleborough Public School System over the years. She worked at Winthrop Atkins and Ben Howes' Chicken House while in college and also after retiring as a school teacher. She ended her working career employed as a Customer Service Representative for American Greeting Cards. She was a longtime member of the Middleborough Central Congregational Church and the Sachem Steppers Square Dance Club. She also was a member of the Middleborough Church of Our Saviour. She loved life, her family, her friends, and the staff at the Shaw Home.
Visiting hours will be held at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Service.
Burial will follow at Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Plymouth Street, Middleborough.
