Thomas P. Stankauskas, age 72, of Middleborough, died suddenly, on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.
Born in Stoughton, he was the son of the late Julius & Bernice (Vermoskie) Stankauskas. Tom grew up in Stoughton, attended public schools, played basketball and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1966. All of his life, he loved the outdoors. Tom was an avid fisherman and in the mid 1970's he established his own bait & tackle supplies shop in Middleborough. He worked hard and long hours and was devoted to his business; serving generations of customers while building an empire. Tom's Bait is one of the largest wholesalers in the region! Tom was loved will be missed by many.
Tom was the husband of Cheryl (Pontes) Stankauskas; father of Latasha Stankauskas of Hull and Sasha Stankauskas of Middleborough; step-father of Casey Shoemaker of Taunton; grandfather of five; and brother of the late William "Bill" Stankauskas.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, June 14, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
