Thomas J. McGuinness Jr., 76, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026. Born on July 8, 1949, Thomas lived a life marked by service, creativity, and deep devotion to his family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Thomas carried his sense of duty and resilience throughout his life. After his service, he worked as a metal fabricator who found joy and expression in creating art with metal; crafting pieces that reflected both his skill and his unique artistic vision.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Cooney) McGuinness. He was a devoted father to Thomas J. McGuinness III, Julia A. McGuinness, and Kristian M. McGuinness, and a loving stepfather to Patricia Cooney and her partner, Shawn Keith. He was the cherished grandfather of Brady McGuinness, Cailynn McGuinness, Isaac Empey, Joseph Cooney, Amelia Cooney, Johnathan Cooney, and Jamison Cooney, and the proud great‑grandfather of Iris Cooney.
Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Catherine (Schroeder) and Thomas McGuinness Sr.; his brother, Paul McGuinness; and his son, Kristian McGuinness.
He is survived by his sisters, Catherine (McGuinness) Sampson and Judith McGuinness, and her partner, Dennis Gorman, as well as his sister‑in‑law, Joanne (Bohn) McGuinness. He was also uncle to Eric, Meredith, Meghan, Shannon, Brendan, Colleen, Erin, and Mitchell, and great‑uncle to Colton, Avery and Braelyn.
Thomas found his greatest peace outdoors, especially during camping trips and hikes through the mountains of New Hampshire. These moments of quiet, adventure, and connection to nature were among his most treasured.
He will be remembered for his courage, creativity, deep love for his family, and the many lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
A celebration of Thomas' life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when available.
