Raphael W. "RAY" Mello

Raphael W. Mello, aged 92, resident of Middleborough, died on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Lakeville on December 31, 1928, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Merceds) Mello. Raphael graduated from Middleborough High School and was a US Army veteran serving in Korea. He worked as a Traffic Engineer for the State of Massachusetts and part-time as a bartender at the Roseland Ballroom in Taunton during the big band years. Raphael (Ray) enjoyed football, gardening and traveling. He visited places all over the United States, Canada and Europe. In death, Raphael joins his loving and devoted companion of many years, Patricia Griswold of Middleborough; his late sister Alice Perkins, brothers Lionel, Joseph, Armand and Edward Mello. Raphael is survived by Patricia's daughter, Pamela Skabeikis & her husband Eddie of Carver; her son, Robert Griswold of Middleborough; his niece, Cynthia Simmons of Taunton; her son, Jonathan of Middleborough; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Family and friends are invited to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM. **LIMIT OF 25 PEOPLE INSIDE FUNERAL HOME AT ALL TIMES** DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, A FACE MASK MUST BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Isidore Parish (Saints Martha & Mary Church), 354 Bedford Street, Lakeville, on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 10:00 AM.
