OBITUARY: (PLYMOUTH) Philip H. Murdy, age 90, died on January 11, 2014 at Emeritus in Plymouth, MA. He was born in Fairhaven, MA, and graduated from Fairhaven High School and Academy. He was the husband of the late Sara Evangeline Murdy, and then of the late Delle Murdy. He is survived by two sons, Philip H. Murdy II of Cascade, Colorado, and Peter W. Murdy and his wife Monica of Middleborough, MA; two granddaughters, Abigail Murdy of Brooklyn, NY, and Lydia Murdy of Middleborough, MA; and a brother, William Murdy of Oxford, GA. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Jane Pollock of North Dartmouth, MA. Philip served in the North Atlantic on the USS Courage during WWII, and then worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph Company until his retirement to Marstons Mills, MA. He had been a member and deacon at Park Street Church in Boston, MA, and then a founding member of Christ Chapel in Centerville, MA. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00am at Christ Chapel, 1200 Old Stage Road, Centerville, MA, on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
