Peter J. Day

Peter J. Day, age 61, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, formerly of Middleborough, MA has passed away.

Peter was born in Middleborough on January 3, 1961 to Frederick J. and Mary E. (O'Rourke) Day.  Peter grew up in Middleborough and graduated from Middleborough High School in 1979.  After spending many years in Florida, he had recently moved to New Mexico.

Peter enjoyed being active outdoors, taking long hikes and bike rides.  He completed a months-long hike of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.  Peter was also a talented craftsman working with stained glass and making rosaries for family, friends, and charity.  Not one for big crowds or loud noise, Peter enjoyed a quiet existence with a few good friends.Peter is survived by his son, Jonathan Day and Jonathan's mother Deirdre of Wareham; his mother Mary Day of Middleborough; his brother Michael & his wife Mary (Silva) Day of Middleborough; his brother Fred & his wife Elizabeth (Scroggs) Day of Rehoboth; his sister Kathy Day of Middleborough; his brother Joshua Day of Middleborough, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Isidore Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
