Michael J. DeArruda

Michael J. DeArruda, age 67, of Middleborough, died on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Oakhill Healthcare Center in Middleborough.

Born in Middleborough, he was the son of the late Robert & June (Smith) DeArruda.  He is survived by his wife, Virginia De Arruda of Taunton; daughter, Michelle De Arruda of Taunton; brother, James DeArruda of Bridgewater, sisters, Marian Gazerro of Wareham and Nancy LeClair of Kingston; his nephews and their families.

Michael was a welder by trade at multiple factories including Cumberland Welding, Superior Rail and Iron and Ryan Ironworks.  However, Michael found his true passion later in life with Blacksmithing.  He worked as a Blacksmith with the Lafayette Artillery in NH, King Richard’s Faire, Pratt Farm and many farmers markets.  Before his time at Oakhill, Michael was often seen walking or riding around Middleborough on his bike.  He loved being outdoors and local history.

All are invited to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM.

Interment services will be private.
