Mary J. (Souice) Gerrior, age 90, of Middleborough, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
Born in Needham, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Sarah (Gouthro) Souice. Mary grew up in Middleborough, and attended public schools. She was a lifelong resident of Middleborough; she made her home, raised her family and worked in this town which she loved. For over 37 years, Mary drove "the yellow school bus" for the Town of Middleborough. Mary enjoyed decorating cakes and making candles; she was detail-oriented, working towards perfection. She also liked rug latching and learned computer skills on the Commodore 64. Mary was known to many as the "Cat Lady" because she was a lover of cats; having 11 cats and walking the cats around the neighborhood in a stroller. She was proud of her family and loved her grandchildren.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Gerrior; loving mother of Leo Gerrior, Jr. & his wife Judith of Franklin, NH, Mary Cass & her husband David of Westport, Catherine McKernan of Wareham and the late Charles Gerrior & his surviving wife Elaine of Taunton and the late Linda Rose; devoted grandmother of Jessica, Theresa, Leo III, Jeannette, Charles Jr., Matthew, Robert, Joe, Acadia, Naomi, Charles Brandon and great-grandmother of 11.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
All are invited to gather at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Thursday, December 30, 2021, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by her funeral Mass of Christian burial at Saint Isidore Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough, at 10:00 AM.
Wearing a mask is required at services.
Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to a local animal shelter or humane society.
