Martha Boucher

OBITUARY: (PLYMOUTH) Martha (Klocker) Boucher, died peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Newfield House in Plymouth. She lived an amazing 105 years and 7 months. Martha was born in Wareham on June 20, 1910, one of twin daughters, to Mathias and Bertha Klocker. She was a graduate of Wareham High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing in New Bedford, MA. While working as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, Middleboro, Martha met Thomas Boucher on a sleigh ride event on February 2, 1935. The couple was married on September 5, 1936. Thomas was the owner of T.F. Boucher Wallpaper and Paint on Center Street at Everett Square from 1926 until his death in 2000. Martha helped in the business while raising four children. Martha was active in the Middleboro community and was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church. At the age of 98, Martha moved from her home to Newfield House. Martha spent her last years as an active and loved resident of the Newfield community. Martha leaves her children Marilyn Butler and husband John of Plymouth, daughter Helen Burton of Plymouth, daughter Anne Cline and husband Richard of Portland, Maine, and son Thomas Boucher of Uxbridge. She also leaves her sister Marguerite Barrett of Wareham. Martha was deeply loved by her 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The Boucher family extends its appreciation and thanks to the staff at Newfield House for making Martha's last years a wonderful conclusion to a very full life. Visiting hours will take place on February 13th at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro, from 9-10:30 am. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St. Middleboro, at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent in Martha's name to the Newfield House Scholarship Fund, 19 Newfield St., Plymouth, MA 02360.
