Marjorie A. (Horn) Whittaker, age 100, of Grafton, New Hampshire, formerly of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at her home.
Born in Middleborough, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Frank & Elizabeth (Griswold) Horn. She grew up and attended public schools in Middleborough. Marjorie got married, became a homemaker and started raising her family. She enjoyed writing and knitting. In later years, Marjorie authored four published historical novels. This past October, she celebrated her 100th birthday, a Centenarian Milestone!
Marjorie was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Whittaker and former wife of the late Merton B. Gurney; loving mother of M. Bradford Gurney, Jr. & his wife Linda of Rochester and Gail Herschel of Grafton, New Hampshire & her late husband Gary Herschel; cherished grandmother of Nathan Lynch and Matthew Lynch & his wife Melissa; great-grandmother of Cooper Lynch and Anna Lynch; dear sister of William Horn & his wife Barbara of Freetown and the late Forrest Horn, Dorothy Washburn, Elizabeth Linton, Eleanor Darling and Lila MacIntyre.
Family and friends are welcome to the visitation period in the East Freetown Congregational-Christian Church, 4 Washburn Road, East Freetown, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by her funeral service starting at 11:00 AM.
Interment services will be private.
