Marilyn C. (Leary) Hruniak, age 88, of Middleborough, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleborough, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the wife of the late Francis (Franny) Hruniak for 57 years.
Marilyn was born on September 18, 1934, in Middleborough, the youngest of four girls. She was the daughter of the late Timothy & Lauretta (Cronan) Leary and sister to Madeline O'Leary, Barbara Mills and the late Marcella Dunn.
She graduated from Middleborough High School in 1952 and married in 1955. Marilyn and Franny settled in Bridgewater and raised their three children. She was a homemaker who later went to work part-time at the Ashley Funeral Home for 28 years where she thoroughly enjoyed greeting guests. Marilyn was a longtime member of the Middleborough Emblem Club and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Middleborough. She was an avid Boston sports fan, especially of the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. Marilyn also loved music, especially Frank Sinatra, and would never pass up the opportunity to dance.
She is survived by her three children; Deborah Collins, Donna Hruniak, and Scott Hruniak; four grandchildren; Jennifer Hruniak, Alina Hruniak, Noah Collins, and Ian Hruniak, as well as two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
