Marie Scheier Donnelly, age 64, a resident of Middleborough since 1985, died on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - West Campus, in Boston.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late William & Helen (Elia) Scheier. Marie grew up in Roslindale, was a graduate of Middleborough High School, attended beauty school and was a hairdresser. In 1980, she married Steve in Hyde Park and together they started raising their family in Middleborough. Marie was very community oriented; she volunteered with the schools when her children were young, was active in youth sports with her three kids as well as helped with fundraising. She helped others in the community especially children in kindergarten, she would help the kids and brought supplies as needed. She also drove a bus for the Special Education students. Marie volunteered for the Council on Aging, lending a hand and delivering Meals on Wheels to the homebound citizens. She was a founder and creator since 2012 of the Middleboro Helping Middleboro online posting of information to help fellow residents of the positive happenings in the Town of Middleborough. Marie was a selfless lady; always there, always helping someone.
In her spare time, Marie was an avid crafter and a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. She adored and loved her dogs, Gus and Ben, along with her grand-dogs. Marie was very proud of her sobriety and was a Breast Cancer Survivor for 22 years.
Marie was the beloved wife to Steven Donnelly for 42 years; loving mother of Laura Donnelly & her husband Alex Kukhar of Plymouth, Meghan Donnelly Stalmok & her husband Timothy Stalmok of Rutland, MA and Chris Donnelly of Middleborough; dear sister of William Scheier & his wife Catherine of Brewster and the late Judye Valliere & her surviving husband Roger Valliere of Ashburn, Virginia.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
All are invited to gather at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by Marie's funeral Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Apostles Parish, Our Lady of the Lake Church, 575 Monponsett Street, Route 58, Halifax, at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be private.
