OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) Marie L. (Lofton) Cook, aged 95, of Halifax, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Nemasket Health Care Center, Middleboro, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Stanley Dyer Cook Jr. She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of the late Allen and Olive (Riley) Lofton. She was a substitute teacher in both East and West Bridgewater. She was a member of the Halifax Congregational Church. Marie was the first female President of the Halifax Home Estates Association, and was a member of the Brockton Eastern Star, and was active with both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. She had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, for 14 years. She had been honored for the number of volunteer hours that she had worked. She enjoyed bowling, and volunteering at the Halifax Congregational Church. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah and her husband Denzil Daniels, of Greensboro, NC, and Margaret and her husband Gerard Boehme, of Middleboro; a sister, Lois Hughes of St. Joseph, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6th at 10 am in the Halifax Congregational Church, Route 106 Halifax.
