OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) Manuel M. Silvia, 89, lifelong resident of Middleboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Nemasket Health Care Center, Middleboro. He was the husband of the late Phyllis J. (Shaw) Silvia, who predeceased him in 1979. He was born in Middleboro, son of the late Antonio and Mary (Cravalla) Silvia. He served in the United States Army, during WWII, in the Asiatic Pacific Campaigns. He was a graduate of Middleboro Memorial High School, and had been a printer at the Middleboro Gazette. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro, and a member of the Mitchell Memorial Club, and Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans. He loved country music, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Michael and his wife Norma Silvia, of Middleboro, Robert Silvia, of Columbus, Mississippi, and James and his spouse Scott Schnappaus, of Bonita Springs, FL; a daughter, Cheryl Graham and her late husband, Steven Graham, of Lakeville; a brother, Anthony Silvia, of Virginia; 6 grandchildren, Jason and his wife Lisa Leonard, Andrew Leonard and his companion Tanya Duffy, Jyl and her husband Anthony Piemonte, Anthony and his wife Sarah Fruzzetti, Brian and his wife Nicole Fruzzetti; Joshua and his wife Susannah Silvia; 9 great-grandchildren. He was brother of the late Mary Delorey, and Emily Silvia. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 3rd from 4-7 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Monday, April 4th at 8:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St. Middleboro, at 9:30 am. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Nemasket HealthCare Center Activities Fund, 314 Marion Rd. Middleboro, MA 02346.
