Leo J. Gerrior, age 94, of Middleborough, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
He was born in Middleborough, the son of the late Leo & Anna (Fortin) Gerrior. He grew up and was a lifelong resident of Middleborough. Leo played Sacred Heart baseball as a youth; was a high school football star, getting the ball for the 2-point conversion and he also played ice hockey, semi-pro as well as for the Mitchell Club. He was a vital part of the Middleborough community and high school athletics. Leo was an accomplished and licensed carpenter for many years; working at Massasoit Community College until the age of 70. While in high school, he built his first house in Wareham, where his daughter Catherine now resides, and later, he built his own residence in Middleborough. In his spare time, Leo loved to go fishing and he enjoyed having a good meal, one that included quahogs, steamers and a cold beer!
For 68 years, he was the beloved husband to Mary (Souice) Gerrior; loving father of Leo Gerrior, Jr. & his wife Judith of Franklin, NH, Mary Cass & her husband David of Westport, Catherine McKernan of Wareham and the late Charles Gerrior & his surviving wife Elaine of Taunton and the late Linda Rose of Middleborough; devoted grandfather of Jessica, Theresa, Leo III, Jeannette, Charles Jr., Matthew, Robert, Joe, Acadia, Naomi and Charles Brandon and great-grandfather of 11; dear brother of Raymond Gerrior & his wife Pam of New Hampshire and the late Blanche Beckman, Henry Gerrior and David Gerrior.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
All are welcome to the funeral services at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 9:45 AM, followed by his funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Apostles Parish, Our Lady of the Lake Church, 575 Monponsett Street, Route 58, Halifax, at 11:00 AM.
A FACE MASK MUST BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES.
Interment will be held at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
