Leo V. Fitzsimmons, age 88, of Middleborough, died on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at the Oakhill Healthcare Center in Middleborough.

Born in Roxbury (Boston), he was one of seven children of the late Edward & Kathleen (Tucker) Fitzsimmons.  Leo proudly served his country during the Korean War, earning several medals for his service and was honorably discharged.  For many years, he was a lifetime Teamster and was a longtime union member #353, based out of Brockton, as a union truck driver for over 40 years.  Leo was a dog lover and enjoyed travelling.  He was fondly referred to as "Papa Bear" to his children and grandchildren; true words of endearment filled with love.  Leo also treasured spending time with his family and friends, and he will be missed.

For 49 years, Leo was the beloved husband of Anne (Klein) Fitzsimmons; loving father of the late Leo V. Fitzsimmons, Jr. & his surviving wife Joanne Fitzsimmons of Florida, Maryann Patterson & her husband Dana of Braintree, Kathy Fitzsimmons of South Boston, Caroline Goolsby & her husband William of South Boston, William Fitzsimmons & his wife Cynthia of Tewksbury, Christine Bergeron & her husband Robert of Attleboro, James Telfer of Florida and Barbara Jackson of South Carolina; devoted grandfather of six and great-grandfather of seven; dear brother of Robert Fitzsimmons of Melrose, Joan Pike of Brockton, Mary Hachey of East Bridgewater, Rita Chamberlin of Billerica and the late Frank Fitzsimmons and the late Edward Fitzsimmons.  Leo is also survived by his former spouse, Patricia Fitzsimmons of South Boston.

There will be no visiting hours.
