Kenneth Stanley Porter, age 84, of Wareham, formerly of Brockton, died on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home.
Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Stanley & Phyllis (Benoit) Porter. Ken grew up and attended public schools in Brockton and graduated Brockton High School. He continued with his education at Massasoit Community College, earning his Associate's Degree in Fire Science. For 36 years, Ken proudly worked for the Brockton Fire Department as a firefighter and retired with the rank of Lieutenant in 1997.
He loved living a simple life; six months in Florida and six months at White Horse Beach in Massachusetts. Ken enjoyed watching the Red Sox, travelling and playing golf. He treasured his grandchildren, and loved watching them play sports. Ken cherished time spent with his family; he was a simple guy and will be sorely missed.
Ken was the beloved husband for 62 years to Catherine (Tubman) Porter; loving father of David Porter & his wife Elizabeth of Middleborough, Karyn Waterman & her husband Doug of Middleborough, Glen Porter & his husband Laurence of Cape Neddick, Maine and the late Gregory Porter; cherished grandfather of Joshua & Bellamy, Zachary & Kaitlin, Jacob, Andrew and Benjamin; great-grandfather of Jackson, Rhett and Austin; and dear brother of the late David Porter & his surviving wife Kathleen Porter of East Bridgewater.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 3:00-7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM.
