OBITUARY: (KINGSTON) John J. Schlager, aged 79 years, of Middleboro, died on Saturday June 22, 2013, at Wingate at Silver Lake, Kingston. He was the husband of Patricia L. (Hayden) Schlager. He was born in Quincy; the son of the late John J. and Sylvia (Raito) Schlager. He was a graduate of Braintree High School, class of 1952. He had served in the United States Army, during the Korean conflict. John was a retired steam engineer for Boston Edison, retiring after 38 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golf, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, a son; Andrew John Schlager of FL, and 4 grandchildren, two daughters; Jackie-Lee and her husband Rick McConkey and their two children, Zachary and Madison, all of Middleboro, Kimberley and her husband Bob Venable and their son, John, all of Wareham, a brother; Richard Schlager of Pembroke, two sisters; Arlene Hayden of Holbrook, June Connors of Pembroke, and 2 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 26th from 4-7 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 27th at 12 noon. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2 pm.
