OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) John Cayton Jr., 87, of Middleboro, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Nemasket Health Care Center, Middleboro. He was the husband of the late Judith Ann (Garib) Cayton, who predeceased him on May 6, 2015. He was a graduate of Middleboro High School, class of 1946, and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked at Massachusetts Correctional Institute, Bridgewater. He attended the Nazarene College in Colorado and became a Nazarene Evangelist, and later became the Minister at the Central Congregational Church, Middleboro, from which he retired. He taught classes for prison guards. He was proud of the fact that he was born in the same year that Mickey Mouse was created. He was an honorary member of Boy's Town. He was an avid Red Sox fan, and was a friend of the late Ted Williams, having a t-shirt which read "God First, Family, Red Sox." Survivors include three sons, Michael Cayton of Cape Cod, Timothy and his wife Coleen Needham of Raynham, Daniel and his wife Marika Needham of Taunton; two daughters, Beth Ann LaFountain of New Bedford, Andrea Needham of Middleboro; step-brother, Donald Pierce of Middleboro; three sisters, Betty Howes of Berkley, Inez Marshall of Lakeville, Donna Marshall of Wilton, ME; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Harold W. Pierce and Gladys E. Pruitt. A memorial service will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro, on Friday, October 30th at 9 am. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11 am.
