Joan F. Stone

Joan F. (Haley) Stone, age 77, of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Kathleen (Walcott) Haley. Joan grew up in Hull, graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree and continued her education at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. Her working career included the special care nursery at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, the pediatric clinic and the dermatology clinic both located in Weymouth, and the public health department for the town of Middleborough. In retirement, Joan enjoyed travelling especially to the White Mountains of New Hampshire and going on cruises; she visited the Panama Canal and Hawaii. Joan was a deep lover of animals, and she helped support the pet club at Oak Point. She was also active with the People 4 Paws organization as well as the Humane Society. Her greatest joy was with her grandchildren, she doted on them and loved spending time with them. Joan was a caring, fun and loving lady; she will be sorely missed. Joan was the beloved wife for 53 years to the late Kenneth O. Stone; loving mother of Carol Stone of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kenneth Stone & his wife Kerry of Whitman; cherished and doting grandmother of Brianna and Nicholas; dear sister of Edward, Carol, Kathleen, Barbara and Philip. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 3:00-7:00 PM. **LIMIT OF 25 PEOPLE ALLOWED INSIDE THE FUNERAL HOME AT ANY GIVEN TIME** DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, A FACE MASK MUST BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES.
