Jane R. (Fickert) Bagdon

Jane R. (Fickert) Bagdon, age 93, of Middleborough, died on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.

Born in Middleborough, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Stella (Nourse) Fickert.  Jane was raised in the North Congregational Church in North Middleborough, serving on all fundraising events and was Church Clerk for many years.  From 1963 to 1969, she was a teacher for the Happy Hearts Kindergarten at the church until the Town of Middleborough went to public Kindergarten.

She was a proud member of the North Middleborough Fourth of July Parade Committee for years.  Jane and her husband Adam enjoyed square dancing and going on trips with friends.  Bus trips were especially fun.  The biggest trip they took was to Germany to visit with their son, Jim, who was a soldier there and Adam had also served when he was in the U.S. Army during World War II.  

After Adam's passing in 2008, Jane moved to the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleborough where she was very happy making new friends, and being with some classmates and family.

Jane was the beloved wife for 58 years to the late Adam Bagdon; loving mother of James S. Bagdon of Taunton and Kenneth A. Bagdon & his wife Jean of Middleborough; devoted grandmother of Stephanie Bagdon and Adam Bagdon & Marissa; great-grandmother of Ella; dear sister of Sallie Harris of Florida and the late Richard Fickert, Ethel MacNichol, Norma Ouellette, June Scialoia and Shirlie Farrell.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

All are invited to Jane's funeral service at the North Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 38 Plymouth Street, North Middleborough, on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 10:00 AM.

Interment services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Connery Avenue, Bourne, at 12:45 PM.
