OBITUARY: (MIDDELBORO) James F. Salvato, aged 85, of Lakeville, MA, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Beverly (Beckman) Guilford-Salvato. Born in Cambridge, July 30, 1930, he was the youngest son of Angelo and Lena (Forestiere) Salvato. Raised in Cambridge, he graduated from Cambridge Latin High School. James served in the United States Army, during the Korean War. Throughout his life he worked as warehouse and traffic manager for Stop & Shop, Old Harbor Candle, and Hit or Miss. During his retirement, he was a courier for Shield's M.R.I. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and traveled to Messina, Sicily, in search of his parent's birthplace. He was known, first and foremost, for his unconditional love for his family; secondarily as a passionate and devoted fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. In addition to his wife of 30 years, he is survived by three children, James Salvato Jr. and his wife Diane, of Wakefield, Richard Salvato and his wife Gena, of Freehold, NJ, Sherri Wilson and her husband Michael, of Wakefield; 7 grandchildren, Ricky Salvato, Gianna Salvato, Olivia Salvato, Frank Salvato, Michael Salvato, Michael Wilson Jr., and Brett Wilson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Salvato, of Somerville. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Raquel Salvato, and three loving brothers, Frank, Joe, and Anthony Salvato. He was also step-father to his extended family, Laura and Bernie Kuppert, of Burbank, WA, Colleen and Ed Silvia, of Lakeville, Matthew and Rayne Guilford, of McLean, VA. He was Pap Jim to Melissa, Ben, Jaime, Molly, Kyle, Viv, Cameron, Aiden, and Lilly. He was loved and adored by his many nieces and nephews, especially the late, Chuckie and Anthony Salvato Jr., and niece, Gina Giannasca. Visiting hours will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro, on Sunday, May 8th from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Monday, May 9th at 9 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Bedford St. Lakeville, at 10 am.
