OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) Henry D. "Red" Gray Jr., aged 84 years, of Middleboro, died on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Nemasket Health Care Center, Middleboro. He was the husband of the late Virginia A. (Gomes) Gray, who predeceased him on May 2, 2007. He was born in Dennis, MA; son of the late Henry D. and Irene (Gay) Gray. He served in the United States Merchant Marines, the United States Army and the United States Navy. Red was a retired truck driver, having worked at Cape Cod Express, and Nemasket Transportation, and later for the Highway Department in the town of Middleboro, retiring in 1985.He was a longtime member of the John J. Glass Post 2188 Veteran of Foreign Wars, Middleboro. His greatest joy was wood whittling and carving, and was seen around town with many of his creations in the back window of his car. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include a son, Paul D. and his wife Donna Gray of Wareham; a daughter, Darlene Tocci of Gain City, FL; a brother, Herbert and his wife Pearl Gray of Middleboro; two sisters, Marjorie Marshall and Bertha Souza, both of Middleboro; two grandchildren, Stephen and Derrick Reynolds, several nieces and nephews, including niece, Amanda McSweeney. He was brother of the late Robert Gay, Morris Gay and Mary Scanlon. Visiting hours will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro, on Monday, November 25th from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro.
