Helen M. (Pierce) Carmichael, age 87, of Middleborough, died on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Oak Hill Healthcare Center in Middleborough.
Born and raised in Middleborough, Helen was the daughter of the late Raymond & Barbara (Hoard) Pierce. She attended public schools and was a graduate of Middleborough High School, Class of 1956. Helen married and raised her family. She enrolled and attended classes for the Practical Nurse Program at the Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School in Taunton and earned her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). For many years, she worked as an LPN at the Bridgewater State Prison. Over the years, Helen worked with family members in the family-owned cranberry bogs.
In retirement, Helen enjoyed gardening and trips to various beaches especially Onset beach. She was a lover of all animals, horses her favorite. Helen loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and "spoiling" the grandchildren whenever possible.
Helen was the loving mother of Lisa Carmichael of Middleborough and the late Lori Salay and the late Adam Carmichael; cherished grandmother of Andrew Cleaves & his girlfriend Wendy, Abrina Kelly & her husband Bill, Alicia Logan & her husband Michael, Makayla Carmichael; great-grandmother of Camren, Brendan, Oliver, Cassidy and Owen; beloved sister of Jerry Pierce & his husband Robert Minshull of Natick and the late Margaret, Linda, Barbara, Mary, Jack and Peter; and former wife of the late Walter Carmichael. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be NO visiting hours.
Private Graveside Services at the Nemasket Hill Cemetery, 515 Plymouth Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
