Eva M. (Travers) Garofalo, age 90, of Middleborough, died on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Garofalo; they were married for 49 years.
She was born in Middleborough, the daughter of the late Orrin Leslie & Iola Jane (Hartling) Travers. Eva attended Middleborough schools and graduated from the Middleborough Memorial High School in 1949. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, bird watching, traveling and had an avid interest in genealogy. She was an 11th generation descendant of William Brewster, the Elder of the Mayflower.
Eva and her husband owned and operated a greyhound racing kennel for a number of years, both in Massachusetts and Florida. She retired as an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Mental Health at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Bridgewater.
Eva was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Garofalo. She is survived by her two sons, Alan Garofalo and Steven Garofalo both of Middleborough; one sister, Erma Hensley of Jasper, Tennessee as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Vera MacDonald, Marjorie O'Leary, Iola Germaine, Leslie Travers, Helen Adams and Dorothy Lougee.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
All are invited to the funeral service at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
Interment services will follow at the Central Cemetery, Centre Street, Middleborough.
