Ernest Montrond

OBITUARY: (TAUNTON) Ernest Barlow Montrond, aged 92 years, of East Taunton, died on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Morton Hospital, Taunton, after a brief illness. He was the husband for 63 years to the late Helen L. (Athanasiou) Montrond, who predeceased him on July 3, 2009. He was born in Taunton, son of the late Joaquin P. and Adeline (Barlow) Montrond. He was a 1938 graduate of Taunton High School. He served in WWII in the United States Navy, from 1942-1945. Ernie worked in inventory control at the former Winthrop-Atkins Company for 53 years. He was a longtime member of the Central United Methodist Church, Middleboro. He was a life member and held several positions including Post Commander, as well as several other offices, and was presently Judge Advocate in the Simeon Nickerson Post #64. He was past commander of District #10 and State Commander of the 40 & 8. He was a longtime member of the Middleboro Lions Club. Survivors include a daughter, Helen A. and her husband Richard Beard of Omaha, Nebraska; a niece, Patricia Perry of East Taunton; several other nieces and nephews of Massachusetts and Virginia; two grandchildren, Danielle and William Beard, both of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, William Ramos; a sister, Carol Ramos, both of Harwich. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro, with a service in the funeral home to be held on Thursday, October 24th at 10 am. Burial will be held in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleboro.
