Ellen M. (Barnett) Roy

Ellen M. (Barnett) Roy, age 77, of Middleborough, formerly of Walpole, died suddenly on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Samuel & Emma (Green) Barnett.  Ellen grew up in Roxbury, moved to Canton and eventually settled in Walpole, where she made her home and raised her family.  For many years, she was a bank teller at the Walpole Cooperative Bank in Walpole.  Ellen liked to travel, especially with her late husband George, to York Beach and Ogunquit in Maine.  She enjoyed walking along the Cape Cod Canal too.  Ellen, known affectionately to her family as "BAM", loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was very involved in their lives and cherished all of the time and gatherings they shared.  Ellen was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Ellen was the beloved wife of the late George Roy; loving mother of Gerard Roy of Minnesota, Lisa Boyle & her husband Richard of North Attleborough, Jacqueline MacDonald of Taunton, Cheryl St. John of Westwood, Christopher Roy & his wife Sandra of Foxborough and the late Shannon Roy; cherished "BAM" grandmother of Richard, Robyn, Erica, Austin, Ryan, Tyler, Jacob, Christopher, and Elizabeth; great-grandmother of nine; and dear sister of Nancy Hourighan of Lakeville, Beverly Brine of Florida and the late Dorothy Barnett.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 PM.

All are invited to Ellen's funeral service at the Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM.

Interment services will be private.
