Elizabeth A. (MacNeill) Washburn, age 84, of Middleborough, died on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur & Helen (Fargo) MacNeill. Elizabeth grew up in Middleborough, attended public schools, and graduated Middleborough High School, Class of 1955. She continued her education and earned her Associate's Degree from Fisher College in Boston. Elizabeth worked as a legal secretary for Judge Allan Hale and Attorney John D. Ryder; both with offices in Middleborough. She continued working as an office manager for the medical office of Dr. Robert Friedman located in Middleborough, and retired after 30 years. In retirement, Elizabeth enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading, shopping, dining out and going on various vacations.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Merle C. Washburn, III; loving mother of Susan Stephanian of Middleborough, Jeffrey Washburn of Middleborough and Jonathan Washburn of Middleborough; devoted grandmother of Derek Stephanian & his wife Allison and Brendan Stephanian & his wife Kimberly; devoted great-grandmother of Zachary and Hannah; dear sister of Arthur MacNeill of South Carolina and James MacNeill of Connecticut; and adored longtime companion of Sterling Caperello of Middleborough.
All are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral service at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
