Eilene L. (Souza) Atkins, age 93, of Middleborough, died on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.
Born in Berkley, she was the daughter of the late Adelino & Maria (Tavres) Souza, and grew up in the Myricks section of Berkley. For many years, Eilene worked as an Administrative Assistant at Winthrop-Atkins Manufacturing formerly in Middleborough. She enjoyed reading, was an avid gardener and had greenhouses with orchids. Eilene was a member of the Cabot Club in Middleborough and the Happy Hearts Senior Group in Berkley. She loved spending time with her family and at her summer home in Onset. Eilene looked forward to her day trips with her friends, whether going out to lunch or playing penny slot machines! She loved watching the Red Sox too. Eilene will be missed by her large loving family.
Eilene was the beloved wife of the late Horace Atkins; dear step-mother of Jeannette Louth of West Harwich and the late Emily Lindberg, Harold Atkins and Donald Atkins; cherished grandmother of Kathryn, Paul, Doug, Linda, Virginia, Patricia, Martha, Charles and Robert; great-grandmother of 19 and great great-grandmother of 18; dear sister of the late Adelino Souza, Mary Souza, Emily Sylvan, Gilbert Souza, Armond Souza and Lionel Souza. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to recognize Eilene's niece, Ruth Ann for her constant care and love for Eilene, especially during these last few years.
Family and friends are invited to the Visiting Hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
All are welcome to the Funeral Services at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 11:00 AM.
Interment Services will follow at the Nemasket Hill Cemetery, 515 Plymouth Street, Middleborough.
