Dorene L. (Cornell) Mathis

Dorene Lynne (Cornell) Mathis, age 68, of Lakeville, formerly of Middleborough, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Milford Gardens Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Milford.

Born in Middleborough, she was the daughter of the late Russell & Jessie (DeMoranville) Cornell.  Dorene grew up and attended public schools in Lakeville.  She was a homemaker, raised her family and later worked as an assembler with computer boards for Motorola-Codex Company, formerly located in Mansfield.  She loved the outdoors and was an avid camper especially at Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort in Foxborough.  Dorene liked to travel, play bingo and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorene was the loving mother of Jessica DeCosta & her husband Randy of Lakeville, Dean Mathis & his wife Nicole of New Bedford and Russell Mathis & his wife Jodi of Seekonk; cherished grandmother of Brianna, Haley, MacKenzie, Alexander, Zachary, Lillee; great-grandmother of Addisyn, Harlow, Brinley, Caelynn and Delylah; and dear sister of the late Jacqueline Wambolt, Dale Burnham and Russell "Rusty" Cornell.  She is also survived by her former husband John E. Mathis of Taunton.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:30 AM.

Interment at the Precinct Cemetery, Rhode Island Road, (Route 79), Lakeville.
