David A. Dutra, age 70, of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.
Born in Middleborough, he was the son of the late Henry & Theda (Walker) Dutra. David was a lifelong resident of Middleborough, attended public schools and graduated from Middleborough High School, Class of 1969. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy, and was stationed in the Philippines on the USS Kitty Hawk. He earned and was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. David was a Past Commander and Vice Senior Commander of the VFW Post in Middleborough. He enjoyed playing in two bands, the "Middlehouse Band" and the "Red Eye Band" as well as other local big bands; he did back up and rhythm singing and played bass.
David is survived by his beloved former wife and longtime companion, Myra (Zamora) Dutra of Middleborough; his devoted brothers, Mark Dutra of Middleborough and Larry Dutra of Middleborough; loving children, Manny, Eric, Flo and MaryJane and cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Chris, Alex, Kalyn, Hailey, Madison and Brian.
Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hour at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Friday, April 2, 2021, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, with a funeral service starting at 10:00 AM.
A FACE MASK MUST BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED DURING ALL SERVICES.
Interment with military honors to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
