Daniel Reed Obituary

Daniel L. Reed, age 78, of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was born and grew up in Middleborough, the son of the late Eleanor A. (DeMoranville) & Charles L. Reed, Jr. He attended public schools and graduated from Middleborough High School. For years, he worked as a Supervisor at a machine manufacturing company. Daniel served in the Army National Guard for four years, and was honorably discharged. He was passionate about working on and racing stock cars. He enjoyed fishing while on his boat and hunting with his friends in Massachusetts as well as in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. On various occasions, Daniel would "try his luck" at the dog track too. He was a loving family man and a great friend to many. Daniel was the loving father of Cheryl Reed Phillips of Middleborough, Eleanor Cogar of Maine and the late Cindy L. Reed; cherished grandfather of Jonathan D. Reed and the late Christopher M. Phillips and great-grandfather of seven; dear brother of the late Robert Reed and Annette Maddigan; dear uncle of Heather Colleary of Duxbury. He is also survived by his beloved longtime companion, Margaret Jackson of Middleborough and his former wife, Dorothy M. Reed of Middleborough. Funeral and Interment services will be private.
