Cecile Guilmet, age 86, of Middleborough, MA, (formerly of Lawrence) passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, peacefully at the Life Care Center in Raynham, after suffering a severe stroke in November 2016.
She was born and raised in Lawrence, MA, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Rene Guilmet in 1957.
Cecile worked at Beneficial Finance Company and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence for many years. In 1999, Cecile and Rene moved to Oak Point where they started the next chapter of life. Cecile formed many wonderful friendships. She enjoyed playing cards with the “Card Ladies” and getting together for lunch with the girls.
Cecile was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren, attending their sporting activities, graduations and all special events.
Cecile was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Rene Guilmet. She leaves her five children, Stephen Guilmet of Attleboro, John Guilmet of Andover, Linda (Guilmet) Arsenault and husband Rob of Salisbury, Sharon (Guilmet) Fries and husband Robert of Bridgewater, Brian Guilmet and wife Jacquelyn of Hanson. She was also the proud “Memere” of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers, Father Gerard Demers, Norman Demers and wife Joyce and the late Richard Demers.
Family and friends are welcome to the visitation period at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 9:00-9:45 AM, followed by her funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Isidore Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough, at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
