Barbara Jean (Brookings) McAlpine, affectionately known to many as "Bobbie", age 88, of Carver, formerly of Middleborough, died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at her home.
Born in Plymouth, she grew up on Jackson Lane and attended public schools. For many years, Bobbie worked in the shoe manufacturing industry as a fancy shoe stitcher; a craft she used as a seamstress, making beautiful bridal gowns and an elegant wedding dress. She cherished time spent with family and friends; always happy to have family dinners with everyone sitting at the big table. With her husband, sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie loved to travel; going to Tennessee, on cruises, and the most treasured times included camping with extended family members and the "Pearl Streeters", where fun and memories were created. She kept busy with simple pleasures, listening and singing to music with her melodious voice, doing ceramics and baking cakes. Bobbie was a loving, giving lady and will be missed.
Bobbie was the daughter of the late Eugene Brookings, the late Eva (Beairsto) Ellis & her late husband Larry Ellis; beloved wife of the late Charles McAlpine; loving mother of Phyllis Horton & her husband Michael of Bridgewater, Charlene Coleman & her husband Donald of Brownville Junction, Maine, and the late Theresa Wilson; cherished grandmother of Nyomie St. Louis, Joshua Maxim, Erica Dean, James (JT) Whynot, Steve Wilson, Jodie Brodack, the late Kim Wilson; and dear sister of the late MaryLou Cavicchi. She is also survived by many dear great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be NO visiting hours.
Funeral and Interment services will be private.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring 2026.
