Barbara J. (Rolt) Byrne

Barbara J. (Rolt) Byrne, age 81, of Middleborough, formerly of Avon, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.

Born in Boston, Barbara was the daughter of the late George & Mary (Saklad) Rolt.  She grew up in Southie and graduated South Boston High School, Class of 1958.  Barbara raised her family in Avon and worked as a medical secretary at Park Surgical in Stoughton for many years.  For the last 20 years, Barbara and her husband, Dan, resided at Oak Point in Middleborough and kept busy participating in many of the activities as well as enjoying many friendships within the Oak Point community.  Barbara was always active, working on physical fitness, doing pilates and aerobics; she was a voracious reader, and loved music and all animals.  Family was important to Barbara, and she loved her large extended family.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Daniel Byrne of Middleborough; loving mother of Michelle Saunders & her husband Scott of Avon, Kevin McCarthy & his wife Erika of Abington and the late Brian McCarthy; cherished grandmother of Delia, Kyle, Brett, Gina and great-grandmother of MacKenzie, Jaxson and Brayden; dear sister of George Rolt & his wife Judy of Middleborough.  She is also survived by Robert Byrne of South Carolina, Christopher Byrne & his wife Seema of Georgia, Susan Gibbons & her husband Sean of Dorchester and Timothy Byrne & his wife Melissa of Walpole, Allyson, Molly, James, Meghan, Lucy, Emily, Edward, the Hatch Family (Paula, Linda, Rob and Gerry), and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

All are welcome to her funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Michael's Church, 87 North Main Street, Avon, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow at Saint Michael's Cemetery, East Spring Street, Avon.
