Barbara "Bobbie" Blette of Wareham died on December 22nd, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Philip A. Blette. Born in Portland, Maine she was the daughter of John and Teresa Emerald. She lived in Brockton most of her life, then Middleboro and Wareham. Bobby attended schools in Brockton and then went to business school. During World War she worked in a defense plant making detonators for ammunition. After the war she went to work for an attorney in Brockton. From there she went to work for Knapp Shoe company in Brockton as secretary for C. E. Knapp, one of the owners, also secretary to two of the vice president. After the company was sold she went to work at the Middleboro State Department of Public Works as secretary to the district Highway engineer and also in charge of about 25 women. After retirement she and her husband traveled to other states and most of the Caribbean islands. In between traveling, they both played golf every day and danced at all the big ballrooms every weekend. Bobbie also enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and other sports, especially the Patriots. Bowling was also one of her favorite pastimes. After the loss of her husband Phil, she and her daughter Cheryl cruised to Bermuda every year, about 17 - 18 times. Bobbie was a member of the Middleboro Emblem Club for many years, serving as an officer in many categories. She was the Beloved mother of Cheryl L. Tavares and her husband Steve. She left behind her granddaughter Lynne and husband Edward Roupa, two great-grandchildren Zachary and Melanie Roupa. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Cynthia Levesque and four step grandchildren, Julie, Kenny, Brian and Nicole, and also many good friends. She had two brothers Lawrence and John Francis Emerald, both deceased. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family, home, friends and church. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro and St Patrick's Church in Wareham. Visiting hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28th at Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street Middleboro, MA. A prayer service will be held on Friday, December 29th at 10 am in the funeral home.
