OBITUARY: (MIDDLEBORO) Arthur Fontes Jr., 68, of Middleboro, died unexpectedly, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in Boston. He was the husband of Donna M. (Robak) Fontes; they had been married for 22 years. He was born in Fall River, son of Arthur Fontes of Waltham and Mary (Correia) Fontes of Tiverton, RI. Arthur served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War. He was a locomotive engineer with Amtrak for 46 years. He loved his job and the people he worked with. His hobbies included being a HAM radio operator. He was an avid runner and had run several marathons in Disney World. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid photographer, and enjoyed computers, vacations and riding on his motorcycle. Survivors include his wife, Donna; his parents, two sons, Arthur III and his wife Renee Fontes, of Fall River, Stephen Fontes, of Tiverton, RI; a daughter, Sharon and her husband John Borkowski of Downers Grove, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Dawn Pettey, of Assonet; a brother, Stephen and his wife Paula Fontes, of Tiverton, RI; three sisters, Patricia and her husband Marc Page of Sterling, Alicia and her husband Paul Matos of Westport, Diana Fontes of Boston; 7 grandchildren, Mitchell, Jennifer, Gracie, Stevie, Amanda, Chris, Bryce, several nieces and nephews. He was father of the late Scott Fontes. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 7th from 4-7 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, January 8th at 10 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
