Anthony "Tony" J. Marando, age 82, of Carver, formerly of Middleborough, died surrounded by his family and with love, on Friday, April 30, 2021, at his home.
Born in Boston, growing up in Roxbury, he was the son of the late Michelangelo & Grace (Panetta) Marando. Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably discharged in 1958. He went on to earn his Associate's Degree in History from Bridgewater State College. Tony began his working career at Blair's Foodland in Roxbury and Grove Hall as a "produce guy" and later became employed at Millard Metal Services in Braintree as a metal welder worker, working many years and retiring in the early 2000's.
In his retirement, he kept busy working as the Produce Manager for the Berry Guys Farm Stand, located on Route 58 in Carver. Tony cherished time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing poker (whenever the opportunity came along), watching movies, and he was a voracious reader and a sports fan. He was a caring, kind, loving and simple man; he will be missed by many.
Tony is survived by Charlotte (Burgess) Marando of Bourne; his loving children, Richard Marando & his wife Alicia of Abington, Christine O'Gara & her husband Sean of Sandwich, Nancy Wainio & her husband Michael of Carver, Anthony Marando & his wife Celia of North Dighton, John Marando & Lee Ann of Assonet and Doreen Marando of Middleborough. He was "Grampy" to his cherished grandchildren, Cassie, Katie, Jimmy, Kylie, Patrick, Melissa, Stephanie, Luke, Kayla, Miah, Jared, Kameron, Aiden, Bryn, Christopher, Jensen, Annie and Casey; dear brother of Carmen Moshiek of Florida, John Marando of Braintree, Angelina Esposito of West Roxbury and the late Albert Marando and Joseph Marando; and dear lifelong friend of Billy Ferrara of Middleborough.
