Anita Ellen (Smalley) Poskus

Anita Ellen (Smalley) Poskus, age 72, of Middleborough, died peacefully surrounded with love, at her home on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late William & Geraldine (Cox) Smalley.  Anita attended Brockton Public Schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School.  After marrying Robert, she was a stay-at-home Mom, taking care of their children.  Anita had that special way of helping people; she began her working career at the Old Colony YMCA Middleboro Branch, and then at the Neuro-Rehabilitation Center (NRC) in Middleborough and for years at the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleborough as the Assistant Activities Director.  She loved dancing, playing scrabble, barbecues and cookouts, being outdoors, and admiring the beaches.  Anita's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends; she cherished the time spent with loved ones.

Anita was the beloved wife of the late Robert Alan Poskus for 44 years; loving mother of Robert Alan Poskus, Jr. & his wife Robin of Middleborough, Marc Andrew Poskus & his wife Tomi of Colonie, NY, John Joseph Poskus of Amesbury, Joseph Michael Poskus & his fiancée Colleen Smith of Buzzards Bay and Katie Lynn Poskus of Middleborough; cherished grandmother of Jacob, Matthew, Gregory, Jason, Andrew, William, Alanah, Aidan, Brenna, Coilin, Fiona and great-grandmother of Finnely and Henry; dear sister of Bill Smalley & his wife Joanne of Fairhaven, Steven Smalley & his wife Chloe of Bridgewater, and Dan Smalley of Middleborough.  Anita is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM.

Interment services will be private.
